February 2004
Welcome to all our new members and readers.
Highlight of February was our AusETAX Forum on the 14th at Tewantin (Qld)
– well attended with some passionate debate. We were fortunate to have
as a guest Dr Richard Hudson who was one of the Unisearch (QUT)
researchers who carried out the original study into the transaction tax
as proposed in John McRobbert’s book ‘Your future in your hands”. The
study gave support to the tax. Our draft AusETAX policy is now on our
website -www.thegreataustralians.com.au. AusETAX will be debated at the
upcoming General Assembly on 24 April in Singleton. What’s your view??
Our Web site is now live – not quite finished but will be soon. Your
feedback is welcome. The draft of the Core Policies is on the site. What
do you think? The site has provision for Business links and Links. Visit
these and let me know if you have any business or general interest link
you would like to insert. It is YOUR SITE. Many thanks to member Jesse
Hodder for his fabulous work in developing the site. If you do not have
a computer, visit your local library and have a look –the staff will
help you.
The General Assembly will be hosted by our very active hard working
Singleton Branch on 24 April from 9am to 4 pm. This is a long weekend so
members can travel. Contact Les Shilton on 02 6572 2906 for help with
accommodation. A trip to the famous Hunter Valley wineries on the way
there or home is one suggestion I’ve heard. There will be some serious
business – so make it on the way home!
I was fortunate to be able to address a meeting of about 100 private
investors in Adelaide on 28 February and I received strong support for
the Core Policies to abolish the Double Tax conventions and introduce
our AusETAX. A thorough read of the Adelaide/Melbourne financial press
on the way home in the plane shows almost universal commentary on the
failings of our Tax System.
We have the answer. There is no doubt we are on a political and economic
winner.
We have our first Convenor – Fay Wieck of Oakey near Toowoomba for the
Federal seat of Groom. Overleaf is a Job Description for a convenor. We
need one for every Federal Branch. Can you help??
If you have an email address and DID NOT receive this by email, please
email me on ausfirstcapital@bigpond.com NOW and I’ll put you on our
email data base.
