GREAT AUSTRALIANS

CORE POLICIES

We stand to win back our nation with a combination of tax reforms, foreign investment reforms, business and community reforms. We will encourage and organise Australians to support one another’s innovative skills and hard work with our own capital and overseas capital invested on fair conditions, so we can compete in the world economy and win true economic & political freedom for all Australians.

EDUCATION

• AusEtax will mean we can provide more funding for Government & non- Government schools. Government schools will be adequately funded to provide the resources needed to educate our children.
• We will provide equal financial support on a per student basis for the capital and operational costs of Government and private schools.
• We propose greater emphasis on trade and technical training as we need to improve the skills level of our work force to achieve the increase in the level of manufacturing as a percentage of the total economy.

ELECTORAL REFORM

• Those responsible for redrawing electoral boundaries should NOT have access to previous voting trends from booths.
• We support the numerical preference system - voters allocate each candidate a number in order of their preference, all the numbers are added up on every voting paper and the candidate with the smallest total wins. Every vote counts.

ENERGY

• We will encourage alternates to fossil fuels – biogas, bio diesel, methane, wave motion and wind turbines and hot rock with the aim of making Australia self sufficient in fuel.
• We will abolish “import parity pricing” and make fuel cheaper, especially in rural areas where distances are greater.

ENVIRONMENT

• We care for our environment.
• We support Australia signing Kyoto protocol.
• We will ban exports of wood chips.
• We will provide incentives to establish sustainable, ecologically friendly Australian hardwood & softwood forests and Saltbush plantations so that Australia can become self sufficient in hardwood and softwood timbers and have reserves of saltbush for stock feed in droughts.
• Water usage, salinity and projects aimed at increasing Australia’s resistance to drought must be tackled above narrow commercial interests.
• We will work with existing groups to expand practical working options for land care and allow land care activities as a “work for the dole” and a community service sentencing option. Rather than pay fines or go to jail, suitable convicted persons may choose to participate in working land care groups.
• We will set up “Noxious weeds” and “Feral Animals” programs to help control lantana, groundsel and all noxious weeds, wild cats & dogs, rabbits, foxes and yes CANE TOADS from our environment and replant native vegetation and reintroduce native animals. These programs will be organised with permanent staff and contractors, but will also offer a work for the dole and community service sentencing option.
