THE PEOPLES MANDATE
Feel like you have no say in Australian affairs?
You are right unless of course you want to join the Libs or the Labs. It is they that are perpetrating the single minded abuse of democracy. Toe the party line or jump! Talk about government by the minority.
How could the Libs seriously push the sale of Telstra when polling shows up to 80% of voters dont want it sold? Their answer - party line mate stuff the people mate.
Only when Latham squawked about the pollies fat super payouts did Howard actually do what the people have wanted for years and reduce them to our level.
True independents are finally getting elected. In the Queensland parliament there are now 8. When boys still wore short pants above their knees this would have been unheard of.
Independents are unlikely to form a government, but a party which has a set of solid core policies or principles and REQUIRES its elected endorsed candidates to vote in Parliament in accordance with the true will of the voters in that Electorate most certainly will.
For the first time in the history of Aus Politics a Federally registered political party has enshrined this principle in its Constitution. Paragraph 8.11 of the Constitution of the Great Australians reads
An endorsed candidate who is elected to a Parliament or Council shall honestly and truly represent the will of the free people in the Electorate.
The partys Federal Executive have issued a Directive to explain this. (Attached)
Now this is democracy at work.
